If you’ve been wondering when Little Farm Cart baskets will return, you’re not alone. We’ve been receiving messages from both returning customers and new subscribers asking when fresh produce will be available again.
The honest answer is that we’re off to a slower start than usual this season.
Like many small family farms, spring has brought its share of challenges. Some have been expected, while others have taken us by surprise. Our family has been juggling work, health concerns, and the countless jobs that come with growing food. With our son temporarily sidelined and unable to help in the garden, much of the farm work has fallen to the two of us, alongside our full-time jobs.
The weather hasn’t made things any easier. A stretch of hot, dry conditions meant many hours spent watering instead of planting. Rabbits discovered our gardens before we could complete a protective fence, and they helped themselves to entire rows of snap peas, cabbage, and some of our lettuce. A few crops went in later than planned, and others are still waiting for their turn in the ground.
Despite the setbacks, there is plenty happening here at the farm.
The tomatoes are growing, peppers are finally planted, and every day brings a little more progress. The gardens are slowly beginning to look less like works in progress and more like the productive spaces we envision each spring.
One lesson farming teaches year after year is patience. Plants grow on their own timetable, and no amount of wishing can hurry them along. While we would love to be delivering baskets already, we also know that quality matters more than rushing the season.
We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, your kind messages, and your patience as we work through this slower start. Knowing that so many people are excited to receive fresh produce from Little Farm Cart makes the long days worthwhile.
We’ll continue to share updates as the season unfolds and will announce basket availability as soon as we have enough produce ready for harvest.
For now, we’re planting, watering, weeding, and looking forward to the weeks ahead.
