🏆 First Place Veggies & Fair Traditions: Spencerville 2025

This past weekend we were proud to take part in the 170th Spencerville Fair, held September 11–14, 2025. It was a wonderful celebration of community, agriculture, and local traditions!

Agricultural fairs like Spencerville’s aren’t just events — they’re woven into Eastern Ontario’s rural culture. They bring people together across the generations, honouring local farming traditions, showcasing homegrown talent, and giving farms like ours a chance to share, compete, and connect.

What Goes On at a Fall Fair!

  • Poultry Show: We’ve entered a few of our chickens and a handsome rooster in this year’s poultry show—a proud tradition for our little farm. Entries we judged and our Rooster placed 3rd!
  • Farm-Fresh Veggies: For the first time, we entered some of our best produce to competition—roots and Vegetables—our Brussel Sprouts, Kale, Cherry Tomatoes, Asian Cabbage and our Peppers were up for judging in the “Farm Fresh Products & Crops category”.
  • Community Highlights: The fair features something for everyone — from tractor pulls, the RCMP Musical Ride on Saturday, Sept 13, the entertainment tent with live music (including The Road Hammers!), the midway, pet and baby shows, and so much more….

…the fairgrounds were full of excitement!

We were thrilled to enter a few of our own feathered friends this year, including our favourite rooster—who strutted his way to a 3rd place ribbon! On the veggie side, we’re excited to share that our farm AKA Little Farm Cart, brought home some wins: 1st place in the Sweet Pepper category, 1st place in Brussels Sprouts, and 1st place in Cabbage!

Events like the Spencerville Fair remind us why fall fairs still matter. They connect people to the land, highlight the work of farmers, and give the community a chance to celebrate agriculture together. Supporting fairs helps keep these traditions alive while showcasing the importance of local food and farming in our daily lives.

We’re grateful to have been part of such a special event and proud to share a little piece of our little farm with the community! By supporting the fair, you’re supporting the sustainability of rural communities, the preservation of tradition, and the future of local agriculture.
